RONNIE CARR

FOUNDER

I believe myself to be representative of a “Living Testimony”.

With that being said, I have been positioning myself to focus on these gifts and talents for nearly 20 years. I have been planning and developing strategies to better serve the individuals that could benefit the target market that is intended for me to serve. It is my intent to share my testimony/ life experiences to as many as I can while I can. I believe that sharing my testimony of “Overcoming Against All Odds”.

My Story:

I believe that my testimony and the passionate commitment to serving the youth and families that we serve coupled with message of “Overcoming Against All Odds” will offer a tremendous opportunity for the youth to discuss, interact and respond to another individual who has come from the same or similar background. It will yield unprecedented rewards to the individuals for personal growth and development by overcoming, persevering to becoming winners through a balance of academic and personal achievement.

Using my testimonial concept in ALL of my business and corporate work has welled up in me as a passion to offer to the youth, to developing students, and by giving the youth, families and student-athletes my personal testimony about overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds to be successful. I was once projected as a first round NBA draft pick out of Western Carolina University. I faced challenges and obstacles beyond belief from an early age in my hometown of Orangeburg, South Carolina. But it was my close brush with death from a career-ending auto accident that set me on the path of new life with a purpose. I subsequently earned my Bachelors, master's degrees and was eventually earned my Doctorate degree from the School of the Great Commission College in Columbia, SC and Hofstra University in Hempstead NY. My life story of the past two decades has been a living testimony of nothing short of Divine inspiration and intervention. It has incorporated extensive experience working in schools, in ministries and in academic, athletic and recreational programs and camps that target all students, especially athletes and others considered disadvantaged or at-risk. The impact and success of my involvement have been nothing short of phenomenal. I have been able to achieve included being placed in the National Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield Massachusetts for making the 1st 3-point shot in the history of the NCAA; completing my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the area of business; being named college basketball’s Most Courageous Athlete by Coors; selected by coaches and media as a Hoops Legend while at a breakfast in the Greensboro Coliseum; included as a member of the Top 50 Greatest Basketball Players in South Carolina’s history; A Nominee for South Carolina’s Sports Hall of Fame; Member of Western Carolina University Hall of Fame; selected to the NBA during the draft of 1983 by the Atlanta Hawks; selected as Male Student of the Year (academic award) by the Student Government Association at Western Carolina University; and received the Man of the Year Award from the Organization of Ebony Students.

Most recently I have continued working closely with my non-profit corporations The Ronnie Carr Foundation for Youth Development, Dream Restore, Inc. which was founded to reach families who are economically challenged with educational opportunities for their children, and Students Taking Action with Results for Success (S.T.A.R.S., Inc.,) which was developed to integrate athletics as a hook for instilling educational empowerment to youth. I am also the founder and president of the Far West AAU Athletic Association and have served on the boards of the Learning Center Charter Schools and the Tri-County (North Carolina) Community College Advisory Committee. Furthermore, I serve as a board member of an international non-profit called AfricEd, designed to bring educational material and information to children in Africa.

With warm regards, I am,

Dr. Ronnie M. Carr
